Connexion Bizarre
PT:2011.03.21

During the past week, Connexion Bizarre was updated with a new release by US idm/ambient/glitch project Pandora's Black Book, an interview French cyberpunk band Chrysalide, a couple of music reviews and our weekly podcast.

In light of the recent events in Japan (read about it here in case you've been living under a rock the past weeks), we will be assisting US experimental music label Force Of Nature in "Natural Disasters: Sendai Japan" project of releasing a compilation series to raise funds for disaster relief in Japan. Prometheus Burning were among the first to react with their "Help Japan. Get Free Music" initiative and there's also a pretty nifty compilation out released by UK label Wrong Music. Of course you can always donate directly at the American Red Cross or the JPRI Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund.

Interviews

Chrysalide & others: an interview with Arco and Syco Trauma
2010 was a busy and interesting year for French cyberpunk band Chrysalide and, with a new album "Don’t Be Scared, It’s About Life" coming out soon (and a tour to go with that) Syco, Arco and Amnesy won’t be slowing down anytime soon. We got the chance to talk to Syco and Arco about their music projects, Audiotrauma, life on tour, politics and just how people react to their Pink Floyd cover...

Reviews

Abs6 - Audiomedikation
"Audiomedikation" is one of those albums that is deceiving at first due to its slow start, but it does get heavier, the rhythms more interesting and the album really does flow amazingly well.

Jerôme Chassagnard - The Time From Underneath
This is an album that needs to be heard as an album. The way the tracks work together, it would be hard to separate them and it has an almost Kraftwerk like sound to it. There's also resemblance to early Future Sound of London and even some Sven Vath throughout the entire album.

Recommended Links & Stuff
The week's mandatory links: American Red Cross and JPRI Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund
Of course, following the events in Sendai, nuclear energy has once again come under scrutiny. George Monbiot's article on the subject in the Guardian is certainly worth reading and this graph at the Economist adds an interesting perspective to things.
Also over at the Economist: "Glizkrieg: a buyer's guide to respectability" and "Failed States: where life is cheap and talk is loose".

And that's about it for this week's update. More to come next week...
All the best,
M.
